Over the years, the magical, simple erectile dysfunction remedy has most likely been the true focus of many a daring expedition into unexplored territory.
Guys would waste any amount of time, money, and common sense in the chase of something that will make their penis perform like it's in a Vegas show, if the internet is any indicator (and it is).

We have a feeling you've come here expecting for exactly that kind of problem-solving solution.
You're not alone in your quest.

What's the story behind the ED trick quest?
Most likely, there are three factors: convenience, avoidance, and humiliation.
Wouldn't it be great if you never had to see a doctor, fill a prescription, or talk to your partner about these kinds of problems?

What Causes Erectile Dysfunction (ED)?

Understanding the problem of erection dysfunction necessitates a look at how erections are intended to work.
Erections occur when blood flow to the penis' blood vessels rises until it becomes trapped in the corpora cavernosa: two lengthy storage chambers.

When you turn on, your brain sends chemical messages to those blood vessels.
They tell the chambers to dilate and fill, and you have an erection as a result.

When something goes wrong and stops this from happening, we call it erectile dysfunction.

Erectile dysfunction can be caused by a variety of conditions, including poor diet, stress, anxiety, and obesity.
Antidepressants, lifestyle decisions, substance use, hormone imbalances, and emotions can all contribute to depression.

Erectile dysfunction is defined by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as "a condition in which you are unable to obtain or maintain a firm enough erection for satisfactory sexual intercourse."
ED is prevalent; an estimated 52 percent of males in the United States between the ages of 40 and 70, or between 30 million and 50 million men, suffer from it.

Over-the-Counter (OTC) gimmicks

You must do something to restart or manage the process of growing hard in order to combat ED.
As you may think, a lot of gimmicks have been used through the years.
People are constantly on the lookout for or promoting new simple solutions.

Some of these have even been looked at through limited research, which isn't enough to provide much proof.

For example, menthol (think Vicks VapoRub®) was once investigated as a potential medicine cabinet tool for ED quick cures.

Menthol has been shown in a few studies to be a "vasodilator," or anything that causes blood vessels to dilate.

The study, which was published in 2016, focused on a small sample of men who experienced excellent outcomes. However, the study had a flaw: menthol operates on skin-level (cutaneous) blood vessels, but not those in your penis.

The trial was also conducted on an arm — and, as much as we might want otherwise, arms and penises have little in common.

There's also natural Viagra®, which you can get at a gas station.
an unregulated supplement that promotes the same ingredients found in prescription ED drugs such as Viagra, but through “natural” chemicals.

Some of them have some shaky medical backing.
In animal testing, horny goat weed, for example, shows promise in treating ED, but no significant human research has been done.

We've already written about these goods, but to summarize, these "medications" are dangerous.

“The present medications and treatments have limited efficacy, unpleasant side effects, and contraindications in some medical conditions,” the Pharmacognosy Review concluded in 2013.
Because of the absence of safety data, uncertain mechanisms, and a lack of information to justify the widespread use of these compounds, their usage may be hazardous to humans.”

Discreet Packing Devices

Some gadgets may appear to be the answer, but while they may provide more science than horny goat weed, they are no more straightforward.

Penis sleeves, for example, are excellent when they work, but there are various challenges associated with choosing the perfect one, since wrong fit, shape, and thickness can cause problems with effectiveness.

Regardless, they have “been reluctant to gain acceptance in the scientific community,” according to a 2019 research paper.

Cock rings hold some potential as well, as they are well-designed devices for retaining blood in.
The only issue?
They do nothing to prevent the blood from entering the room in the first place.

Male vibrators have their own set of applications.
They can assist men with spinal cord injuries ejaculate and make partner intercourse more enjoyable.
But what about making you tough?
Nothing conclusive has been found.

Erectile Dysfunction Treatments That Work

The most effective ED treatment options, as you might expect, are the most scientifically sound ones: regular oral prescription drugs, lifestyle adjustments to improve vascular and other health conditions, and counseling.

The truth is that your ED is most likely caused by a pill, an unhealthy lifestyle, or psychological concerns (performance anxiety, low self-esteem) that require more involved treatment than you can get alongside lottery tickets or on Amazon.

The next step is to speak with a healthcare professional who can better assist you in determining the cause of your ED and making therapy recommendations that will be beneficial.

If your lifestyle is causing you problems, your doctor may suggest adjustments such as more exercise, a healthier diet, weight loss, stress reduction, or just drinking more water and less alcohol.

There are also drugs to consider.
Cialis® (tadalafil) and Viagra® are the two most commonly prescribed medications (sildenafil).

Phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors include tadalafil and sildenafil.
They operate by preventing the breakdown of certain compounds in your body, allowing blood vessels in your penis to dilate longer.

Because of the duration of its effects, you may prefer a different prescription depending on your needs (sildenafil is best taken before activity, while tadalafil can be taken once daily or as needed).

Because these medications can be used to treat hypertension, it's vital to tell your doctor if you're on any blood pressure or hypertension medications, or if you're on nitrates, as the side effects from both can be dangerous.

Last Thoughts

We apologize for the inconvenience.
Men are usually on the lookout for quick fixes to solve their problems.
We understand: it's difficult to talk about these issues, and it's much harder to realize that they may be a lifelong issue in certain circumstances.

But the most essential thing to remember is that there is no simple solution, and it is unfortunately required to seek support, guidance, and counsel from a healthcare professional.

Treating the problem on its own isn't enough.
It isn't going away, and it may be growing worse.
